During a time of change it’s critical to manage all stakeholders through every step:
Know
Understand
Believe
Act
It deconstructs nicely – individuals can’t act until they believe. They won’t believe until they understand. And they can’t understand until they know.
So where to start? By communicating (repeatedly).
I believe attribution for this eventually works its way back to the former editor of the Hamilton Spectator. It’s wonderfully simple, yet has resonated with everyone I’ve told it to.
I eventually solved my problem, finding out where to buy tickets for the Cold War Kids show in Toronto. I bought six of them and a bunch of us had an incredible night celebrating my friend Greg’s birthday.

I’m guilty of always having a few books on the go; however, lately it has gotten out of hand. To solve the problem I’ve put a new rule in place – no new books until all of my partially completed ones are finished.

I spent last week in Vancouver and LA.

It was the first time I was really able to see Vancouver and breathe the city in (a little bit). We had a meeting in Cole Harbour, in a bar across from Stanely Park with the mountains on the horizon. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. For dinner we ate at Bridges on Granville Island. The Granville Island area should be inspiration for Hamilton and the area below the Skyway.
LA was LA. Glad to be home.
