It’s hard to be a music fan and not appreciate the Smiths. The vocals of Morrissey, the guitar licks of Johnny Marr - the songs and sound of the Smiths continue to influence Britpop as well as my musical tastes.
So it’s an understatement to say I was excited when I heard that Marr had joined Modest Mouse, another band I love, on guitar and will share song writing duties.
The new iteration of Modest Mouse has been touring for some time but they’ve only now released the lead single from their upcoming album, We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. Dashboard is the title, and the influence of Marr is definitely apparent. I like the song and I think you will as well.
