When standing at point A it’s easy to rationalize a very small change when moving to B. Small change made during a small move.

At B it’s easy to justify a very small change when moving to C. Again, small change, small move.

The problem is that the sum of the small changes made through small decisions during small amounts of time become fairly substantial. Soon you’re at J wondering when it got so far from K. That’s when you have to make some tough decisions.
