I had dinner tonight at El Cholo, a restaurant in LA that serves Mexican food. It was one of many recommendations when I asked you for places to eat/see while in LA.

Matt said that the mexican food at El Cholo was delicious and I was craving good mexican food so I gave it a try tonight.

This was maybe the best mexican I’ve ever had (comes very close to old town San Diego).

Check out the story behind this restaurant:

- Opens in 1923

- Starts serving a dish called “nachos” in 1959

- 1967 becomes the world’s largest user of Cuervo Tequila

Highly recommended. Thanks for the tip Matt.

You’re welcome. Did you go to the original one on Western, or the one in Santa Monica?

I hope you went to the one on Western… a tip for next time - order the Santa Barbara Enchiladas. Chicken and shrimp enchiladas in a red sauce. It’s not on the menu, and it’s delicious.

I went to the one on Western. Some of the best mexican food I’ve ever had. Everything was great. Adam, I’ll most definitely order that next time. You’re from New York aren’t you? How do you know about off the menu items at a LA restaurant?

I lived in LA for three years - pretty close to El Cholo, and I made it a regular habit. For fun, casual Italian, I recommend C&O’s Trattoria on Washington down in Marina Del Ray. It’s patio dining - They have house wine in Ice Tea dispensers and everyone in the restaurant sings “That’s Amore” every half hour or so. And the food is great!
